This presentation covers how gender relates to identities, sexuality, and society through a discussion of cultural influences on how and why we think about gender and in what ways it translates to everyone’s lives, including transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming communities.
Inclusive LGBTQPIA Organizing (beginner/intermediate or advanced)
Different people may need different things, be it because of economic class, race, ability, age, identity, or ability, but all of us need to feel respected and included. This workshop discusses how to create inclusive spaces in our organizations and schools, break down possible obstacles, and offer a Q&A for specific concerns.
“You look like a Freak…” Gender and Societal Recognition (intermediate/advanced)
Evaluating the cultural concept of normalcy and how it affects members of the queer, and more specifically the trans and genderqueer community. This workshop uses trans and gender theory to cover gender identity, sexuality, desire, and who enforces the rules of gender expression, why we feel we have to follow them, and how we can break them.
Bending Desire: Sexual Attraction and GenderQueer Identities (intermediate/advanced)
Genderqueer, trans*, and gender non-conforming identities create new spaces for sexual desire. By using examples of gender performance artistry, this workshop analyzes and discuss the influence of gender on expression on sexual desire and where genderqueers fit in.

“Midwest GenderQueer brings a unique perspective to his work: that of a flamingly fabulous genderqueer struggling to create space for himself and other gender outlaws in the Midwest. His articulate discourse on the intersection of geography with identity is refreshing and insightful, and he balances his intellect with hyper-energized, fluorescent performances that combine glitter with a charming boyishness.” - Johnny Blazes
